PulpMX Photo Report: LA
Jan242012by Lissimore
James Lissimore went to Los Angeles for a supercross and these are the best photos he could take.

Privateer Alex Ray did his best Jacky Vimond impression with his pink JT gear. Anyone who's read my stuff knows I'm a fan of the JT stuff but, uhhh, not so much with this color. Still, it took balls to do it.
H&H owner Carey Hart rolling up the rain gutters on the tent under orders of Kenny Watson. Yes, I'm serious.
Reed chased down James Stewart in the main and then left him behind for a very impressive win at Dodger Stadium.
As he said on the Pulpmx Show, he got a much better start on the restart and was "feeling it". And I have to say, the ease of his victory surprised me. Reed was feeling it no doubt.
Fitness isn't just for riders. Weimer's mechanic (and former NCY Yamaha rider) Dana Wiggins warms up. There was a lot of downtime in LA to hang out and bro down.
As good as Reed was, Eli Tomac was better. He just killed the main event and so far through three rounds, his speed has been impressive and it was only a matter of time before he broke out. Love the old-school Ron Lechien no-legger celebration over the finish line.
This is the infamous Sinjin from the Pulpmx Show with his favorite rider Jimmy Albertson. Despite his love of Jimmy, he appears to like girls because he had a hot chick with him. And yes, he was swearing a bit.
Tough break for Brayton as he didn't make the main after crashing while leading the LCQ. Brayton was also one of the casualties last year in Jacksonville and didn't make it then either. It's ok Brayton, you're just one of many top guys who are going to miss the main this year.
James Stewart crashed in the main event in what seemed to be a pretty slow motion fall for the #7. Stewart hasn't been the same guy that has amazed us week in and week out and he's still working stuff out.
He won his heat again which makes it 3 for 3 in 2012 but his time in the heat was pretty far off RV's time. No matter how he or JGR spin it (and I don't blame them) this isn't a good start for the rider or the team.
This is a cool shot. Jeff Ward and Johnny O'Mara talk shop. Ward's back as an owner and O'Mara is back as Stewart's riding coach. A couple of iconic ex-riders who once were at each others throats racing 125 nationals.
Jake Weimer was out front on the first start and he was out front on the second one as well. He led for a while before dropping back to a solid third place before falling after making contact with Stewart. Bummer for Jake but he still showed that he's got the speed and is going to be a front runner.
Kenny Watson's number one priority at LA was getting this number one plate from the 2008 Supermoto Series to his former mechanic Corey Shea. Shea worked for Steve Drew at the H&H powerhouse Supermoto team and was pumped to get it. We think.
Don't you just hate when this happens? Lars gets sprayed after the win. Insert your own sick joke here.
Do you Be-Leib? Well you might start at least getting into the spirit as privateer Michael Leib is pretty good at supercross despite spending the last two years in Europe.
Poor Moving Marvin The Martian Musquin. He was on the move to the front and had an easy fourth in the bag when he went down hard late in the race and DNF'd. James Lissimore doesn't have sympathy and isn't going to pass up the shot.
People who stayed at the track said it rained hard all night long and the tarps over the track looked very wet. But the guys at Dirt Wurx did a good job in saving it and we had a dry and slippery track.
It's cool to say we raced in Dodger Stadium (I've seen a couple of ball games there as well) but in the end, it's kind of dumpy. But then again, people say that's the charm of the place. I still say it's kind of dumpy. Attendance hasn't been that good in the two years we've been there and I wouldn't be surprised to see the race moved.
This dummy ain't know dummy. He knows better than to pick Rockstar Suzuki rider Martin Davalos for his fantasy team.
The BTOSports.com/BBMX team is still waiting on Michael Byrne to come back but in the meantime, they've picked up Matt Georke to fill in on the team for the next little while. No word on whether he gets to keep wearing his Sexy Devil gear.
Nick Wey has a part-time job cleaning his trucks wheels. If you know Nick at all, you know this isn't surprising.
Dungey rode great to get a second but the real winner was his gear. Nice new colorways and matched the bike and Red Bull colors perfectly.
The first start, RV was gone. The second one, he had some problems and had to, once again, come from the back. There's no doubt that he's been the fastest guy through three races but raw speed doesn't get you anything if you can't stay out of trouble.
Trey Canard and his brother Airdog arrive at the track. Of course he was happy to be there. Later on, he would be seriously hurt in a scary crash. Sounds like he's going to be ok but he'll definitely be out for a while.
Wow, what a picture! Tim Ferry and Sebastian Tortelli talk about old races and old times. Think of this like that the Johnny O and Wardy shot only fifteen years later. Old riders don't go away, they just become coaches and trainers. By the way, the epicness of this photo cannot be understated.
