If there ever was a people’s champ of this little sport of dirt racing other than JT$ it would have to be one of my favorite riders Nicholas Wey.  Official torch bearer of the Michigan Mafia and privateer hero, Tricky Nicky is one of the funniest guys in the pits or as Matthes would say “a good guy, a real good guy”.

Nick has gone from privateer to factory rider and back again more times than Martin Davalos has had second chances. Nick started off as AMA Rookie of the year back in 1998 he then tasted success with Pro Circuit and then Yamaha of Troy. It was at this point in time that Nick was to cross paths with Mr PulpMX himself. Matthes' world class mechanical skills took Nick to privateer of the year. These two on the Moto XXX team poured blood, sweat and tears into this season and even their own money at times. Listen as Wey recounts stories from those days and more told with the humour that only he can.

We all saw Nick’s crash from Millville and this weeks column is a dedication to him and his speedy recovery.
