PulpMX Podcast Rewind No.46
Pulp Fans!!!! Here is another edition of the PulpMX Podcast Rewind and this one is long overdue.
Number 46 is with the one and only “6 – time” Jeff Stanton. An OG member of the Michigan Mafia, Stanton’s accomplishments are massively under rated in this day and age of perfect seasons, The GOAT and The King.
Achieving what he did in a seven year career was just awesome. I mean he was considered “Over the Hill” at 26 and he retired. Looking at his career, Jeff gained Rookie of the year status in 1987 and AMA 250 SX and Mx Champion in 1989 a feat which he repeated in 1991 and 1992. Once again awesome yet understated. That is the definition of Stantons’ career, he came through in the era of Bayle, Bradshaw and McXrath. All three being showy and or brash characters of that late eighties, early nineties era of MX and SX.
Stanton was like a diesel engine just chugging away without too much flare or pazazz. But he got the job done. Period. So listen to this podcast with Matthes as he recounts the beginning, middle and what I feel was the premature end to his career.
